How ratings work

Teams are rated using our HDR power rating system, which estimates true strength on a neutral court.

What drives projections

Team strength (power rating)

How odds are calculated

Each matchup is simulated using rating differentials to generate win probabilities. Tournament odds are derived by advancing teams through the bracket in thousands of simulations.

How to read it

Higher percentages indicate a greater likelihood of advancing to that round. Upset opportunities appear where lower-seeded teams have stronger underlying ratings or favorable matchup profiles.
